Wildly Happy

Today I got to use the cutest stamp set, Wildly Happy. It has the four sweetest Mum and baby images from the animal Kingdom. With these, I made four Welcome Baby Cards but moved away from traditional pinks and blues. As you can see I have used a similar layout for each of the cards, while varying the colour of the base cardstock and DSP.

The Rabbit Duo

The Bunny Family are based on a Mint Macaron Card. Layer two is a piece of  the retired DSP Bird Ballad. before adhering the layer to the base, I have wrapped some gingham ribbon from the Flowers for Every Season Combo Pack  around the layer and tied a small bow to the right side of the card. I have then die cut the largest rectangle from the Stitched So Sweetly Die Set using Mint Macaron.  I stamped the image and sentiment on Whisper White using Basic Gray Classic Stampin' Pad and coloured the image with Watercolor Pencils. I then used the second largest Stitched So Sweetly rectangle to cut the image out. Then all layers were adhered together. A piece of Whisper White was glued to the interior of the card and decorated with a slim piece of the DSP.
The Fox Duo

The Fox duo were created in the same way, using the Bird Ballad DSP and the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. This time the sentiments were stamped separately to the main image and cut using the smallest two Stitched So Sweetly rectangles. I used a landscape layout for this card because the fox image is a little wider than the Rabbits. The Base cardstock for this one is Calypso Coral and the ribbon is from the Flowers For Every Season Combo Pack

The Elephant Duo

For this card, I have used a Smoky Slate base card with a Basic Gray Layer and then a layer from the In Good Taste DSP. I used the extra layer to add a little more interest to the background in this card. The Ribbon is from the  Flowers For Every Season Combo Pack.
The Panda Duo

This time I have used a Whisper White background with a layer of Forever Greenery DSP. The ribbon is from the Reversible Ribbon Pretty Peacock/Old Olive.

These a Simple Stamping cards to make, but the use of Water Color Pencils gives them a soft, subtle look suitable for baby cards without being too traditional.

Campology Stamp Set

Hi all. As you can see, I am persisting with making Masculine cards because it is normally a real challenge for me. I was a little underwhelmed by the Campology stamp set when I first saw it, but to my surprise, I found that I really enjoyed thinking outside the box to create these cards. I am just in awe of the Artistry Blooms DSP and cannot stop myself from using it. This piece is so reminiscent of outdoor scenery that it suited Campology so well.

Card one,

The base card is Granny Apple Green cardstock and layer one is Artistry Blooms DSP. I have stamped the trees and tent from Campology directly onto the DSP using the Shaded Spruce Classic Stampin' Pad.
I then stamped the tent, in Shaded Spruce, on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and fussy cut it out, removing all details (guy lines and grass) other than the tent. I  glued the tent over the image stamped onto the DSP, carefully lining it up so that the guy lines and grass were restored.
The moon was stamped onto a scrap of Sahara Sand cardstock, using the Versamark embossing pad. I then tipped white embossing powder over it and heat set it. I fussy cut the image and mounted it on the DSP with glue.
I used the Stampin' Chalk Marker in white to create a few star-like details and used Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to give them a twinkle (unfortunately hard to photograph).
The sentiment from the same stamp set was stamped on Sahara Sand cardstock in Shaded Spruce and hand cut out. The edges of the sentiment were tapped on the stamp pad to outline it in Shaded Spruce.

Card two.
Whilst making the previous card I thought about how I could get the tent to appear to be glowing, but decided instead to use the 'glow' idea for the Lantern.
The base of the card is Daffodil Delight cardstock. Layer one is Basic Gray cardstock. Layer two is Mango Melody cardstock and the image is stamped on Whisper White cardstock using Basic Gray Classic Stampin' Pad.

The glow was created by using Daubers to sponge the colour onto the cardstock. I stamped a second image of the lantern on a 'stick it' note and fussy cut it out. I then layered it on top of the image on the cardstock to "mask" the lantern as I sponged over it. Two "stick it notes" also protected the shadow area to separate it from the light.

The colours used were; (Click the name to find out more)

Game On Revisited

The Game On stamp set is such an interesting one when you start playing with it. The images are beautifully detailed. Today I made another masculine card specifically for Father's Day. I also used an embossing technique that is one of my favourites.

The base card is Night of Navy cardstock and its first layer is a piece of Artistry Blooms. It is such a wonderful collection of Designer Series Paper and has so much variety in its design. To give the cards an aged look, I very lightly brushed a thin wash of  watered down  Crushed Curry. When it was dry,  I stamped the card image in Real Red and let it dry. I then used the Versamark pad to cover the image and embossed it with Stampin' Emboss Powder in clear.  While the embossing powder was still hot, I tipped another layer of  clear embossing powder and heated it and then repeated for a third layer. This gives the cards the look of old waxed cards.
I fussy cut the image out then attached it to a Whisper White background that was made using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. I stamped the sentiments on Night of Navy cardstock, using Whisper White.
The Hope Your Day sentiment is embossed in Stampin' Emboss Powder in white. The Happy Father's Day sentiment is mounted on a hand cut piece of Whisper White cardstock, using Stampin' Dimensionals.

This image shows how thick the layers of embossing powder on the cards is. I love this effect.

Game On Masculine Card

Today was another foray into the world of masculine cards which many of us seem to find a bit more difficult. The Game on stamp set is ideal for cards for blokes.

I started this card with a Granny Apple Green base card and the first layer is a piece of Artistry Blooms DSP in a matching green. I love the Artistry Blooms DSP for its variety and versatility.  I stamped the main image of chess pieces on a Whisper White with Memento Tuxedo Black and the fussy cut it out.
I used Basic Gray cardstock with the Stitched Shape Dies to create the label behind the image and Crumbcake cardstock and the Stitched So Sweetly Dies to create the second layer of the image. This was all glued to the DSP. The sentiment is from the same stamp set on Whisper White and mounted on Basic Gray cardstock.  I stamped the dice from the set on both the whisper White insert and the envelope.
