Who else finds it difficult to create masculine cards? I have to admit that I find them difficult, as I seem to struggle with inspiration and creative ideas. This morning I sat down in the studio and spent a little time looking at the "A Good Man" stamp set and played with colours and colour combinations. To my surprise, once I got started colouring the images, the ideas started to flow. Cards don't always need to be complicated and multi-layer to be pleasing to the eye. The beauty of creativity is that sometimes you just have to "begin". I started by stamping several images from the A Good Man Stamp set on to Whisper White cardstock and using the largest circle from the Stitched Shape Dies, cut all the images out. I then used the Watercolor Pencils to colour them. That was the point where I relaxed and started to create.
Card One;
This card uses a Soft Suede Base and paper from World Of Good DSP. The sentiments are stamped on retired tags but they seem to fit quite well here. You can use the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch, or the Classic Label Punch to create your own. The sentiments are from the Beautiful World and A Wish For Everything stamp sets. It has a Whisper White insert to write your own message which is decorated with a small piece of the DSP.
Card Two;
This card uses a Bumble Bee Card base and the main image is mounted on a Crumb Cake Circle, cut using the Layering Circle Dies The trees are stamped on Whisper White cardstock using the Shaded Spruce Classic Stampin' Pad They are from the Timeless Tropical Stamp set and In the Tropics Dies. There is a Whisper White Insert and both the insert and envelope has a Tree stamped to decorate.
Card Three;
This card uses a Crumb Cake base. A piece of paper from In Good Taste DSP is the second layer and the third layer is Whisper White cardstock. The circle with image is mounted on a Crumb Cake Circle, cut using the the Layering Circle Dies. The Sentiments are stamped using the Crumb Cake Classic Stampin' Pad.
Card Four;
This is an Olive Green Card base with a piece of paper from In Good Taste DSP as the second layer.
The image is mounted on an Olive Green circle. The trees are cut using Majestic Mountain Dies.
If you are unsure where to start, sometimes starting with something as simple as colouring can get the creative juices flowing. Don't procrastinate, don't think that you don't have talent, don't compare yourselves to others.....Just Start!
