When it comes to cardmaking and papercraft, would you consider yourself a beginner, intermediate or experienced crafter? Today I have three cards, all using the Zany Zebras stamp set but at different levels of complexity.
Card One; This card is based on a Daffodil Delight cardstock and has a layer of Granny Apple Green cut slightly smaller than the Daffodil Delight layer. A layer of Whisper white is cut slightly smaller again (only a centimeter on one end and one side). It has two corners cut off at an angle to give it some interest. A Zany Zebra is stamped directly on the Whisper White layer with the Gray Granite Classic Stampin' Pad. The sentiment is also stamped in Gray Granite. Around the sentiment, I have randomly stamped the stars from the Zany Zebras set. Can you spot the mistake? I miss stamped one of the stars but that does not mean that the card is a failure. I used 3 tiny rhinestones to cover the mistake and I quite like the effect. Simple stamping and cutting have created a lovely little card.
Card Two; This card is a little more complex as it involves die cutting and ribbon embellishment. I started with a Night of Navy base card and I chose the Many Medallions Die which I have cut in a piece of Artistry Blooms DSP. The Zany Zebra was stamped in Night of Navy on a square of Whisper White cardstock. I then touched the sides of the square to the Night of Navy stamp pad to colour the edges.
Next I stamped a sentiment from the Zany Zebras stamp set and used a circle from the Stitched Shapes die set. Once it was cut. I rolled the edge on the Night of Navy stamp pad. I used a piece of ribbon from the Boho Indigo Suite and layered it on the card, using tape to hold it in place. On top of the ribbon, I place the sentiment. It is not a difficult card to make but takes more time and elements that Card one.
Card Three; this card took a lot more time and planning and has many elements to it making it more suited to someone who has had a fair bit of practice.
It starts with a Whisper White based which used a Fancy fold. The base card is 14.9 cm x 29.7 cm. The card is scored parallel to the 14.9 side at 10.5cm. 18 cm and 25.5 cm and folded in a zig zag shape. DSP layers are 14.4 x 10 cm, 14.4 x 7 cm, 14.4 x 3.5 cm ( two pieces).
Three Zany Zebras were stamped in Gray Granite, coloured with a) Light Flirty Flamingo and Light Melon Mango, b)Light Melon Mambo and Dark Melon Mambo and c) Dark Seaside Spray and Light Bermuda Bay. the poles of the Carousel were created with a stamp from the Pattern Play stamp set. They were stamped with Versamark embossing Stamp pad and embossed with gold embossing powder and heat set, then cut out to crate poles.
The Carousel canopy was cut from the DSP using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies and then hand cut to fit each layer. The scalloped edges of the canopy was embossed by rubbing the edges across the versamark stamp pad, sprinkled with gold embossing powder and then heat set.
The inside of the card contains a sentiment from the Zany Zebra stamp set which is embossed in gold and die cut with a Stitched so Sweetly Die, then layered on Gold Foil which is also die cut with a Stitched So Sweetly die
All the pieces were assembled to resemble a carousel
