These beautiful flowers arrived on my doorstep a few days ago, from my very lovely friend Tracy Gilder (https://www.tracygilder.com/). As soon as I saw them, (and after I had thanked her), I was inspired to create a card in their image. I loved this card so much that I entered it in Kylie's Internationl Blog Highlights and I hope that you might vote for Card 26. (Kylie's International Blog Highlights)
I had just the right stamp sets and Dies in my collection, Prized Peony Bundle and Celebrate Sunflowers Bundle. While the vase actually contained gorgeous red roses, it was possible to create a very similar look with the Peony Dies.
Card One;
I die cut enough Real Red Peony pieces to create three Peonies, although I only needed two in this card. Then each piece was highlighted, using a Real Red Classic Stampin' pad and a dauber. This gave the pieces a look similar to the unfurling rose petals. A small scrap of Daffodil Delight cardstock was used to die cut the centre stamens to give the flower some depth. I then stamped a large Sunflower and two smaller ones, in Daffodil Delight on Whisper White cardstock. They were then coloured with Stampin' Blends in Light Daffodil, Dark Daffodil, Light Mango and Light Granny Apple Green. Several leaves were also stamped from the Celebrate Sunflower stamp set. All the Sunflowers and leaves were all then die cut, some using a scrap of Granny Apple Green. It took a while arranging and rearranging all the components of this card to give a balanced and pleasing effect. The card uses a Real Red cardstock base, with a Whisper White insert.
The sentiment comes from the Daisy Lane stamp set as I was looking for something that was slimline and did not distract from the blooms. I used the smallest of the dies from the Stitched Rectangles die set
Inside the card, on the Whisper White insert and on the envelope I stamped the smallest sunflower in Real Red.
Card two;
This card was made because I had a prepared Peony left after making the first card. I stamped the large Peony image from the Prized Peony stamp set on Whisper White cardstock in the Granny Apple Green Classic Stampin' pad and used watercolor pencils to colour the stem and bud. The bloom did not need to be coloured as it was covered by the die cut peony. The sentiment was die cut using the Well Written die set and used Gold Foil cardstock. The Whisper White layer was mounted on a Gold Foil layer and then mounted on a Real Red base card, with a white insert.
The insert and envelope were stamped in Granny Apple Green with the smallest peony image from the stamp set.
I added several Droplets from the Frosted & Clear Epoxy Droplets to highlight the flower.If you would like to visit my Stampin' Up!® online store CLICK HERE
